The nigerian export promotion council has said that the value of nigeria’s non-oil export revenue recorded a marginal decline to $4.5 billion in 2023. the drop indicates a $300m decline from the $4.8bn revenue accrued to government in 2022 and $500m less than the $5bn target set by the council for the year. nonye ayeni, the executive director of the nigerian export promotion council disclosed these figures while speaking to the media on the performance report of the non-oil export sector for 2023.“since i assumed office on the 16th of october 2023, the performance of the non-oil export sector has shown clearly that the sector offers massive potentials for growth and is pivotal for economic development and diversification.” in her briefing, the ceo of nepc noted that the nepc recorded an increase in the volume and value of exportable goods and services leading to earnings that will enhance foreign exchange inflow and facilitate the stability of the naira.
