The securities and exchange commission has warned investors against doing business with unregistered companies and people posing as capital market operators.

The sec stated in a circular that laws entrusted it with investment regulation and that any unregistered operators or schemes are fraudulent.

The commission reminded the general public that only people and institutions registered with the commission are authorized to engage in capital market operations under section 38 (1) of the investments and securities act 2007.
