President Tinubu Launches Strategic Plan to Enhance National Lottery Trust Fund

President Bola Tinubu has unveiled a comprehensive 2024-2028 Strategic Plan aimed at repositioning the National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF) for more effective delivery of community-oriented projects. The announcement was made during a ceremony at the Banquet Hall of the State House in Abuja, where the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, represented the President.

In his remarks, Senator Akume emphasized that the NLTF will play a crucial role in providing support to vulnerable individuals and communities across Nigeria. He noted that the strategic plan is designed to leverage the Fund’s resources to address urgent issues within communities, focusing on vital sectors such as health, education, and infrastructure.

President Tinubu commended NLTF’s Executive Secretary, Comrade Tosin Adeyanju, for his proactive leadership, highlighting that the strategic framework was developed within just two months of his appointment. This quick turnaround reflects a commitment to impactful governance, according to the President.

Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Hon. Zephaniah Jisalo, reassured Nigerians of the plan’s significance, stating, “The strategic document prioritizes meaningful interventions that will benefit Nigerians directly.”

Dr. Maryam Keshinro, Permanent Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Special Duties, reiterated that the NLTF is mandated to utilize lottery revenues for societal advancement. “The National Lottery Trust Fund was established to harness the potential of lottery revenues for the betterment of our society,” she said, adding that the new Strategic Plan serves as a roadmap to maximize the impact of initiatives in critical areas.

During the event, Comrade Adeyanju expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for the introduction of the Revenue Assurance Platform (RAP), which he believes is essential for achieving NLTF’s objectives. He stated, “I appreciate President Bola Tinubu for reshaping the lottery industry in Nigeria through the introduction of the Revenue Assurance Platform.”

Established in 2005, the NLTF has implemented over 306 projects nationwide, transforming communities and enhancing lives. Adeyanju underscored that the new Strategic Plan aligns closely with the government’s vision for sustainable development.

Senator Victor Umeh, representing Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Hon. Canice Moore, Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Inter-Governmental Affairs, conveyed their support for the NLTF’s initiatives, emphasizing the importance of legislative backing for the Fund’s efforts.
