Nigeria has no housing shortage- Fashola

Babatunde Fashola, Nigeria’s Minister of Works and Housing, stated on Thursday that the Country’s housing shortage was unprecedented.
Previously, operators in the built environment, as well as government authorities, estimated Nigeria’s housing shortfall to be over 17 million people.
But, addressing on Thursday in Abuja at the inauguration of the Federal Housing Authority’s Board of Directors, Fashola claimed that the housing shortage allegations lacked factual and logical support.
“There was a rumour out there before we got in that Nigeria had a housing shortage; it was a lie,” he added.
He urged the newly appointed board members not to be stymied by the concept of deficit, but to use their knowledge and skill to benefit everyone.
“Essentially, your job will be specified by the FHA Legislation, and I urge you to get familiar with your responsibilities under the act as soon as possible,” Fashola stated.
