NIGERIA LIQUEFIED NATURAL GAS LIMITED ON WEDNESDAY REVEALED THAT THE COUNTRY’S MAJOR GAS EXPORTER, NLNG, WAS CURRENTLY FAILING TO MEET ITS GAS EXPORT OBLIGATIONS TO CUSTOMERS, LET ALONE SIGN NEW LONG-TERM GAS EXPORT CONTRACTS. THE NLNG, HOWEVER STATED THAT THIS WAS PRIMARILY DUE TO THE HIGH LEVEL OF INSECURITY SURROUNDING GAS PIPELINES AND WILLFUL VANDALISM OF GAS INFRASTRUCTURE, WHICH HAD CRUMBLED GAS EXPORTS. SPEAKING ON GAS EXPORTS, DR PHILIP MSHELBILA, MANAGING DIRECTOR, NIGERIA LNG LIMITED, EXPLAINED THAT NIGERIA’S GAS SUPPLY DECLINE HAS WORSENED IN THE LAST TWO YEARS DURING THE FINAL PANEL SESSION ON WEDNESDAY AT THE ONGOING 6TH NIGERIA INTERNATIONAL ENERGY SUMMIT IN ABUJA.
