NAFDAC Sets To Put a Stop To Rejection Of Made-in-Nigeria Food Products

Director-general of the national agency for food and drug administration and control, Prof. Moji Adeyeye has condemned the United States of America’s and European Union member nations’ rejection of Nigerian food and agricultural commodities due to low quality.

The DG urged all regulatory agencies to find urgent and long-term solutions to the European commission’s rapid alert system for food and feed border rejection notifications on products originating from Nigeria.

Given the recurrent rejection of food and agricultural commodities at entry ports in several countries in Europe and the United States, Adeyeye noted during a virtual technical roundtable discussion with other Federal Government agencies that the stakeholders’ meeting was timely.

She stated that effective evaluations of export items were critical and that basic information such as a certificate of radiation and a health certificate may need to be included in the accompanying shipping paperwork.
