MTN Nigeria Communications PLC paid the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) a total of N618.7 billion in direct and indirect taxes in the fiscal year 2021, making it Nigeria’s single greatest taxpayer at 13.5 percent.
The communication giant’s total tax contribution amounted to N757.6 billion in 2021. In their audited financial statement, they revealed a 22.90% growth in revenue from N1.35 trillion to N1.65 trillion in the current period and a 45.5% growth in net profit of N298.65 billion from N205.21 billion in the corresponding period of 2020.
At the National Tax Dialogue Event organized by the FIRS, MTN Nigeria was awarded the most tax compliant organization and a top 20 taxpayer in Nigeria for the 2021 tax year.
