THE INTERNATIONAL LABOUR ORGANISATION HAS STATED THAT IT WILL WORK WITH THE NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT, WORKERS’ UNIONS, AND SOCIAL PARTNERS ON HOW MIGRANTS CAN GET TRADE TEST CERTIFICATIONS TO ENABLE THEM TO GET JOBS EASILY WHEN THEY TRAVEL OVERSEAS. CELESTINE OKEKE, THE ILO PROJECT COORDINATOR, ANNOUNCED THIS AT A COMMUNICATION AND VISIBILITY PROGRAMME IN LAGOS. OKEKE MENTIONED THAT THE TRADE TEST, WHICH IS GLOBALLY RECOGNISED FOR SKILL CERTIFICATION, IS IMPORTANT IN HELPING MIGRANTS GET JOBS WHEREVER THEY TRAVEL. HE RECOMMENDED THAT NIGERIANS WHO ARE INTERESTED IN MIGRATING SHOULD USE THE MIGRATION RESOURCE CENTRE (MRC) TO OBTAIN ACCURATE INFORMATION ABOUT THE SKILLS REQUIRED IN THEIR DESTINATION COUNTRY.
