THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT ACCORDING TO RECENT DATA BORROWED N6.07TN FROM THE CENTRAL BANK OF NIGERIA THROUGH WAYS AND MEANS ADVANCES IN 2022. THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT’S BORROWING FROM THE CBN HAS INCREASED FROM N17.46TN IN DECEMBER 2021 TO N23.53TN IN DECEMBER 2022 AS A RESULT. THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT MAY HAVE BORROWED MORE THAN N6.07TN, AS THE DEBT WAS N23.77TN IN OCTOBER 2022.SERVICING OF THE DEBT APPEARS TO HAVE SLIGHTLY REDUCED IT TO N23.53TN BY DECEMBER.THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT HAD SAID IT WOULD REPAY THE LOAN WITH SECURITIES SUCH AS TREASURY BILLS AND BOND ISSUANCES BECAUSE THE GOVERNMENT HAD STARTED EXPERIENCING A SIGNIFICANT REVENUE SHORTFALL.
