CBN to crash price of Rice, Distributes 27,000 metric Tonnes

The central bank of Nigeria and the rice farmers association of Nigeria have agreed to deliver 27,000 metric tonnes of rice paddy directly to millers countrywide on Thursday, June 24, 2021, in a fresh effort to alleviate rising food costs in the Nigerian market.

the direct distribution from RIFAN warehouses throughout 16 states of the federation follows the previous sale of paddy aggregated as loan payback to millers from the rice pyramids launched in Niger, Kebbi, Gombe, and Ekiti states under the anchor borrowers’ programme.
