Breaking News: Ekiti State Chief Judge, Justice Oyewole Adeyeye, Is Dead After Brief Illness
The Chief Judge of Ekiti State, Justice Oyewole Adeyeye, died after a brief illness. Confirmation of the news of his death was made on Tuesday through Olanike Adegoke, Chief Registrar of the Ekiti State Judiciary.
In a statement signed by the judiciary’s Public Relations Officer, Michael Oba, Adegoke hailed the late Chief Judge as “a respected jurist who gave his life in service to the lofty ideals of equity, fairness and justice”.
“The contributions of late CJ to the judiciary, indeed Ekiti State as a whole, is immense. We will surely miss him, Adegoke concluded.
Justice Adeyeye was born in 1960 in Araromi Ugbesi, Ekiti East Local Government Area. He was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1986 and thereafter served with distinction in various judicial positions. He was appointed as the Chief Judge of Ekiti State in October 2021, a position he occupied until his death.
Justice Adeyeye’s death has therefore struck deep in the heart of the judiciary and the people of Ekiti State, for whom a great leader who spent his lifetime career serving humanity has been lost.
