President Muhammadu Buhari has sent a bill to the house of representatives, seeking approval to grant the economic and financial crimes commission powers to freeze accounts of alleged crime proceeds and money launderers.
The Speaker of the house of representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila read the letter from the president during plenary on Wednesday.
President Buhari had withheld assent to the same bill in 2019.
Meanwhile, the house of representatives has scheduled the second reading of the petroleum industry bill for October 20. Femi Gbajabiamiala, made the disclosure on Wednesday in plenary, while calling for all motions concerning floods across the country, to be consolidated by the rules and business committee.
President Muhammadu Buhari had three weeks ago, returned the oil-and-gas sector reforms bill to the national assembly, after several attempts to make it law in Nigeria failed.
